Fremontodendron
This hybrid with ssp. decumbens gets about 3 feet tall & 8 feet wide producing wide yellow flowers throughout the summer. More garden tolerant than most but requires good drainage & deep infrequent watering the first year, no direct summer water after that.

Mature specimen in a peninsula garden. This may be Ken Taylor as it's supposed to display the orange backside of the flowers more than some varieties.
